University Link LRT – Final Design
GRIJALVA ENGINEERING is the Lead Traffic Engineer for the University Link LRT Final Design Project. This work includes developing Construction Traffic Engineering Design Reports; traffic control plans including the closure of I-5 on and off ramps and associated detours through the city of Seattle; haul routes for each of the design contracts ; traffic operational studies at Montlake Boulevard & NE Pacific Street; pedestrian and bicycle impact studies near the University of Washington Station and Capitol Hill Station; and the traffic signal, signing and striping final design plans near the University of Washington Station.
Central Link LRT – Preliminary Engineering
Sound Transit, Seattle
Mr. Grijalva was the Traffic Engineering Manager for the development of Central Link LRT designs for Sound Transit. This work included performing transportation planning, traffic operations analysis and preliminary traffic engineering including the introduction of an at-grade center running light rail system along Martin Luther King Jr. Way in the city of Seattle and assessment of the impacts due to the temporary closure of the Downtown Seattle Transit Tunnel during retrofit. The traffic operational analysis tools used included: HCS, Synchro, Corsim/Netsim, Transyt-7F/Teapac, and VISSIM. Preliminary traffic engineering design included developing construction haul routes, construction traffic control plans, signing, pavement marking and traffic signal designs.

Mr. Grijalva was the Lead Traffic Engineer performing traffic operational/impact studies and traffic engineering final design including traffic control, signing, striping and traffic signal plans, specifications and estimates for various Arizona Department of Transportation freeways and highways throughout the state.

This work includes performing traffic operational analysis integrating streetcar into city street system along Mill Avenue, pedestrian and bicycle facility designs and developing conceptual traffic engineering plans and technical transportation reports.
